Overview

In April 2019, I did a mini internship at a startup in Stockholm called SaltX Technology. They produce nano-coated salt particles that efficiently store thermal energy. This is the (potential) future of energy storage and I wanted to be a part of it, so I worked with the marketing team of the company to improve the user flow and communication of their website.

Thinking on my Toes

When I joined SaltX, the marketing team was gearing up for the press event within a Vattenfall energy plant in Berlin. Part of my brief for the website was to clarify SaltX’s role in the energy ecosystem. Research revealed that while they made nano-coated salt, the industry perception was that they made thermal storage devices.

I had the idea to distribute vials of salt at the press event. This gave a ‘face’ to their primary offering. And made for a funky giveaway!

Improving User Flow

After the event launch (for which they flew me to Berlin!) I focused solely on the website. I suggested ways to align the user flow with the needs of customers, improved headlines and body copy with reasoning, and incorporating iconography to boost customer retention. My inputs were appreciated and implemented.

SEO Deep Dive

I explored SEO Optimization to help improve the visibility of the website. I looked through trending articles, websites and google searches around ‘energy storage’ and used tools such as KWfinder.com and keywordtools.io to create a list of keywords and phrases to work into the website copy & boost Google search visibility.

From Salt to Script to Screen

I also wrote a script for a film for SaltX and their Vattenfall launch event which was shot and produced.

I was delighted by the final film and, even though my internship is over, I am proud to have contributed in my own way to a company that is doing some real good in the world.
