Buddy+
Overview
Dogs are the coolest people. For our favourite four-legged friendos, we designed and prototyped a subscription box service for healthy food and treats. The client was Buddy Pet Foods, a healthy dog food and treats company.
We created Buddy Plus, a mobile-friendly subscription service website with an iterated design and customer experience that our clients loved. In fact, they applied some of the designs from our prototype to their primary website!
Barking up New Trees
A very process driven project, we followed the double diamond and went heavily into research. This was the first project where I created surveys and received direct feedback from dog owners. It was quite exhilarating! For this project, I worked with a very talented team of Ku Adofo Mensah, Rosalinn Andersson, Melad Munther and Gustav Dahlberg.
Sniffing Opportunities
To make the process valuable and collaborative, we conducted workshops with the client and set expectations early on. I conducted workshops to narrow down on our focus question and to brainstorm. We ended up with some promising early ideas and paper prototypes.
Chasing Wireframes
After aligning on the basic idea for the service, I built an early prototype using Marvel's phone wireframing app. This proved useful since we had something to show an industry leader from Facebook who gave us very valuable insights and feedback.
Exploring Site maps
To keep the team aligned and to create a clear picture of what we were proposing, we literally created a clear picture. I visualised the site map and gathered the various features and expectations at every page and stage.
Loyal to the User Journey
To truly paint a picture of the problem our solution was solving, it was important to see how the service would look like in the context of the user's daily life. To do so I researched user journey mapping, assimilated the survey research and created a simple visual journey the user would take with our service.
Show don't tell
The project also gave me the opportunity to build mockups of the box itself to demonstrate that our proposition extended beyond the website and into packaging. This meant learning Adobe Dimension and creating 3D box mockups with our branding. Yum!
